Chamber Music Charleston: Lecture Recital

  • Old Exchange Building Charleston, South Carolina (map)

Join us for a lecture concert with guest clarinetist Graeme Steele Johnson, who will introduce us to the historic basset Clarinet.  Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet in A major, K. 581 (which Graeme will be performing with Chamber Music Charleston on November 8), was originally written for the basset clarinet,  an extended-range instrument designed for his friend, the virtuoso clarinetist Anton Stadler.

Bach: Sarabande from Cello Suite No. 1 in G major

Viet Cuong: Apparition for solo clarinet

Duke Ellington: The Single Petal of a Rose [trans. Graeme Steele Johnson after Ken Peplowski]
